The results of this survey will be used to improve a database resource designed for use by acupuncture practitioners and researchers.

Your own members may find this database useful for many purposes, such as fine-tuning clinical strategies or finding new ones, directing patients to research on particular conditions, or as the basis for quick literature review.

Background:

In 2007, an open-access English-language online database was launched at www.electroacupunctureknowledge.com. The database consists of detailed summaries of more than 8000 clinical studies on electroacupuncture (EA) and associated modalities published worldwide. More than half of these were translated from other languages, making the database a unique, innovative and valuable resource.

However, no new studies have been added to the database for 12 years, and therefore a comprehensive update is now planned. To justify the update and ensure that it meets the requirements of practitioners and researchers from different backgrounds, this survey is being conducted to assess current and potential future use of the database. In addition, data will be gathered to find out what sort of practitioners use EA, and for what conditions. (This additional data will be used as the basis for a research paper, not for marketing purposes.)

The original database received financial support from the British Acupuncture Association (BAcC) and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). For the update, discussions are currently being held with the AACP, the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS), and the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (London South Bank University). The website is maintained by Elsevier using proceeds from sales of their 2007 textbook on electroacupuncture.

The survey:

The online survey will be conducted over a 3-month period, from mid-March to mid-June 2014. It only takes around 10 minutes to complete, and consists of 26 questions, on basic demographics, acupuncture training, professional membership and experience, and on whether respondents have found the clinical studies database useful, or might do in the future. No identifiable personal data will be collected, and all responses will be held securely. In particular, any respondent comments will only be used in publications if of a non-personal nature.

A draft version of the survey is attached.

Because of the timescale involved, I would be grateful if you could let me know your response to this request no later than 28th February 2014.

The British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) has already agreed to email all its members about this project. I very much hope theMagyar Akupunktúra Orvosok Társasága will do so as well, so that the database can best be updated to meet the requirements of your own members.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

David Mayor
MA BAc MBAcC
Hon member AACP

Acupuncture practitioner, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, UK

Hon Research Fellow,
Department of Physiotherapy,
School of Health and Social Work,
University of Hertfordshire, UK

alternative email address: davidmayor@welwynacupuncture.co.uk

[Editor and co-author, Electroacupuncture: A practical manual and resource; Elsevier, 2007-]

További infok – adatlap

Thank you for your help!
David Mayor

A fenti szöveg téjékoztató fordítása

Az online adatbázis használatának felmérési adatlapja – KÉRJÜK A KOLLÉGÁKAT TÖLTSÉK KI!

A survey for your members on current and intended use of an online acupuncture clinical studies database

[90

post-1774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-kozlemeny
["GET
